Burnham Music Publishing / Melodian Music International

These are the publishing entities of Paul Savory’s Marathon Music International.

Paul Savory has been in the record industry since 1983 when he was brought in by Record Shack Records to look after their internationally successful artiste Miquel Brown. He worked with Miquel and subsequent Record Shack artistes (Evelyn Thomas, Break Machine, Eartha Kitt etc) until leaving to work with producer Ian Levine on independent productions.

Over the next few years Paul worked with Ian on the ‘Motorcity’ project, working with such artists as The Supremes, The Velvelettes, Jimmy Ruffin and his brother David Ruffin, and the legendary Motown songstress Kim Weston. With Ian, Paul also worked on very many Hi-Nrg and dance acts, including Kelly Marie, Angie Gold, Seventh Avenue (later to become Big Fun) and others, before going on to produce Eartha Kitt on his own, with whom he had kept in close contact with since their first meeting.

In a departure from front-line product, Paul then entered the world of super-budget releases, sourcing product for the labels to which he was contracted. It soon became apparent that good product at a low price and from a reliable source was not easily obtained. It was then Paul identified a need in the market and set up Marathon Music in 1993.

Marathon has succeeded in delivering reliable, quality product to the companies’ worldwide and prided itself on being one of the more pro-active companies in the low-price field, adding to the catalogue on an almost daily basis.
